Reported rates are not adjusted for the impact of seasonality. The seasonality of a lane rate can be seen on the 13 month graph of rates. We provide the historic data so the user can take seasonality and trends over the past year into account when using the rates. The Broker-to-Carrier Spot Rate is the rate over the most recent 7, 15, 30, 60, or 90 days or 1 year. The Shipper-to-Carrier Contract rate is for 90 days, 270 days, or 1 year.
Seasonality in produce seasons can have a big affect on rates. To get an accurate rate use the current rate, the changes over the 13 month rate history provided, and research this year’s produce season through the USDA fruit and vegetable report or other resources.
