From the My Shipments option in the menu, click NEW SHIPMENT.
In this section, you will select if you would like to send your shipment to your Private Network and/or the DAT Load Board.
Selecting Post to Private Network will allow only the carriers in your Private Network to see the shipment. You can also select Specific Groups within your Private Network if you don't want to send the shipment to the entire network.
Selecting Post to DAT Load Board will send your shipment to the entire DAT database, where all carriers can potentially see the load. In addition, brokers and shippers may choose to Post to Extended Network, where even non-DAT carriers can see the shipment using the DAT One (Mobile) app for Android and iPhones.
Note: For standard DAT users, posting to the Extended Network will incur a $2/per posting/per day charge. This option is a complimentary service for enterprise users and incurs no additional charge.
Next you will provide the details of your loads... where it originates, where it ends, as well as dates and hours for pickup and drop off. It's recommended you provide the pickup and drop off hours if known as these are important details for the carrier and will make the booking go smoother.
You will now need to provide the details for the equipment you need. Select the appropriate equipment type and both the length and weight of the shipment.
Now you can provide some additional information about the shipment. Start by adding any comments you want the carrier to see. For instance, if you needed a 102" wide trailer, you would indicate that in comments. Additionally, you can list the commodity and provide a reference id, which is a unique id you may have to identify the load in your TMS.
If you plan on posting to the DAT Load Board and/or not providing a booking option (below), you will need to select a contact method for the carrier to reach out to you. When posting to a Private Network, carriers will not need to contact you and can book the shipment online.
Booking & Rate
In this section, you will select your booking options and, when required, the rate.
Start by selecting a booking option.
Note: When you select Allow carriers to request to book, you will be required to post the rate on this shipment as well. You can only choose this option if you selected Post to Private Network in the Posting Options section.
- Allow carriers to book instantly on DAT (book now) will allow carriers receiving the shipment to instantly book the load if they are interested.
- Allow carriers to book instantly on DAT (book now) and also send booking data to my TMS will allow carriers to book the load online. The request will then be sent to your TMS at the URL you provide.
- Send carriers to my booking site will send interested carriers directly to your company's TMS where they will complete the booking process. You must provide the URL for your TMS when choosing this option.
In the Allow Requests From section, you can also control who can take advantage of your booking options. For instance, you can allow both your Private Network and DAT Load Board carriers to book your shipment online, without having to call you. And with DAT One, you can allow carriers to bid on your shipments, where you will be able to see each carrier's bid and award the shipment to a carrier.
And finally, when posting to a Private Network, you must provide a flat rate for the trip (optional, but encouraged, when posting just to the DAT Load Board or when no booking option is provided)
For convenience, DAT One provides the DAT average rate here as well so you can get an idea of what carriers have been making for similar shipments.
You can also select one rate to be displayed for your Private Network carriers, while you have a different rate provided to the DAT Load Board carriers.
When finished, click POST
